Sleep Modes in Windows

Sleep modes in Windows

To see which sleep modes your computer supports, open an elevated command prompt in Windows 7.Enter the following

 cmd:- powercfg -a

S1. Only the hard drives and monitor power down.
S2. The CPU is powered down but the computer’s memory remains fully powered to retain all software states upon waking up.
S3. Similar to S2 but only a minimal amount of power is supplied to the computer’s memory. This mode takes Windows 7 longer to wake up from.
S4. This is Hibernation mode. Windows 7 saves the current state of your PC to the hard drive and completely powers down. Upon waking up, Windows 7 restores the computer’s memory and software to the same state as the moment before Hibernation mode was activated.
