What is the meaning of SMS codes like DZ, DM etc. ?

You might received SMS from Way2SMS, Freecharge, your banks with sender name like
DT -Topup, BW-Google, DM- Amazon, VM- Redbus etc.
You ever thought what is the meaning of DT, BM, DM etc. ? 
Here is the answer
SMS which are send by Bulk SMS providers follows certain rules framed by Telecome Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).

Meaning of Bulk SMS codes like DZ, DM, LM, DT www.digitalnative.in

According to TRAI rules, 
  • The name of the sender should be restricted to 6 characters. (E.g DT - Topup, DZ - WAYSMS
  • The first two character prefix have specific meaning. 
    • First character represents the service provider
