Join Hands for Tamil Wikipedia 10 th Anniversary Celebration Chennai

Tamil Wikipedia 10 th Anniversary Celebrations:

World's open book Wikipedia's Tamil wing is celebrating its 10 th anniversary in Chennai on September 29th 2013.

Anyone can attend this event and it will be the better place to introduce yourself with Wikimedia moment and befriend Tamil lovers.

Here is the complete detail of the event

Venue:

TAG Hall (near Mechanical Engineering Dept.,)
College of Engineering, Guindy
Anna University.

Route:

• Change to City bus at Guindy/ Saidapet, if you are coming by Electric Suburban trains.
• Change to City bus or walk (15 minutes) at Kasturibai Nagar station, if you are coming by MRTS train.

Time:

• Morning 09.00 to 12.30 - Wikipedia Tutorials
• Evening 03.00 to 05.30 - Tamil Wikipedia tenth anniversary celebrations

Lunch intermission will be 12.30 to 03.00. You are welcome to enjoy your food with your friends at the college canteen or restaurants in nearby Adyar.

There is no registration fee for the event. Please feel free to bring your friends, relatives, colleagues and kids for the event.

Should I bring something?

If you have laptops, data cards and cameras, please bring them for the workshops in the morning. However, these are not mandatory to take part in the workshops.

• Introduction to Tamil Wikimedia Projects
• Browsing and Usage of Wikipedia
• Article Writing, Uploading Media and other opportunities to contribute

• Tutorials for existing active editors
• How to popularize Wikimedia ?
• How to take excellent pictures ?
• How to operate the bots ?
• How to write featured articles ?

Evening from 03.00 to 05.30 Tamil Wikipedia tenth anniversary celebrations

• Welcome Speech (2 minutes)
• Tamil Wikipedia Ten years - Celebrate with Sweets (5 minutes)
• A small intro on how to contribute for Tamil Wikipedia Projects (15 minutes)
• Certificates of Appreciation to be awarded to active contributors (15 minutes)
• Speeches on Growth of Tamil Wikipedia (15 minutes)
• Discussion on developing Free Content in Tamil and fostering Wikimedia movement in Tamil and Indian languages (60 minutes)
• Book release of Tamil Wikipedian Durai Manikandan. (15 minutes)
• Participants' felicitations (15 minutes)
• Vote of thanks (3 minutes)

The function will come to a close with serving of Tea and snacks.
