All about Windows Media Player

Windows media player still one of the leading audio/video player used world wide have its birth on 1991 in the name of Media player with Windows 3.1 OS and final release of Windows Media player is Version 12 with Windows 7.

Still best player in market, Microsoft ceased releasing newer version of Windows Media Player after Windows 7 .

Here is the list of file formats supported by Windows Media Player 12 ( You may not aware of few )

With Windows Media Player 12 there is almost no need for another player since it supports almost every famous format of media world.

Moving Pictures Experts Group (.mpg, .mpeg, .m1v, .mp2, .mp3, .mpa, .mpe, .m3u)
Audio Visual Interleave (.avi)
Audio for Windows (.wav)
CD Audio Track (.cda)
MP4 Video file (.mp4, .m4v, .mp4v, .3g2, .3gp2, .3gp, .3gpp)
QuickTime Movie file (.mov)

MP4 and mov are supported only in Windows Media Player 12.

Useful Media Player Shortcuts :

ctrl+p - Play or pause a file. .
ctrl+f / ctrl+b -    Play the next or previous song.
f7    - Mute and unmute the volume.
f8 and f9 -    Increase or decrease the volume.
ctrl+h - Turn shuffle on or off.
ctrl+shift+g and ctrl+shift+s - Play faster or slower than normal speed (time compression).
ctrl+shift+n - Play at normal speed.
ctrl+w - Close or stop playing a file.
ctrl+s - Stop playback.
ctrl+shift+f - Fast-forward through video or music.
alt+enter - Show video in full screen.
